Treasure Hunt 2005Can you decode this important message from one of America's most famous naturalists?
Rebus design: Dave Laferriere & Charlie Adler
At our treasure hunt on June 25, 2005, treasure seekers collected clues from letter boxes hidden on our properties to form the rebus shown here. In the weeks before this event, teams obtained pledges from area supporters. At the end of the treasure hunt, prizes were awarded based on donations collected, the number of treasures found, and solving the puzzle. Letterboxing has become increasingly popular in recent years, with hikers depositing small mementos in stashes along many wilderness trails in parks and woodland. This event would not have been possible without the leadership of ALT Vice President Glenn Weidner, and the primary sponsorship of The Sun Chronicle, as well as the support of Audubon's Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary.
